Disaster Relief Ministries
Being prepared for natural and manmade disasters is a personal responsibility and a responsibility of each church. Giving a "cup of cold water in a time of crisis" is at the heartbeat of our loving Lord Jesus as he ministered to people's needs. This section contains information on: TBM Disaster Relief Training/Personal Disaster Supply Kit/Hurricane Tracking Chart.
Phase One: Yellow Cap Orientation, A general overview and introduction to Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief Ministry. Phase One is required for all Yellow Cap Leaders.
Phase Two: Specialty Training, Specific training on how to perform the specific ministries of Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief Units.
Phase Three: Mock Table-top Simulation, This table top takes all that was learned in Yellow Cap Orientation and Specialty Training and puts into practice.

First aid kit and essential medications for two weeks
Canned food and can opener or canned food with pop tops
At least 3 gallons of water per person per day
Protective clothing, rainwear and bedding or sleeping bags
Battery-powered radio, flashlight and extra batteries
Special items for infant, elderly or disabled family members
Written instructions for how to turn off electricity gas and water if authorities advise you to do so. (Remember you will need a professional to turn natural gas service back on).
Have emergency phone numbers for fire, ambulance and police posted (teach children 911)
Check for adequate insurance and have papers with you in case you evacuate
Install smoke detectors on each level of your home, especially near bedrooms.
Conduct a home hazard hunt regularly.
Determine the best escape route from your home and your work to an out of town area
Have evacuation plans for escaping your home in case of fire
