the Alamo City is a diverse community. Our city is promoted as a great place to live with the cost of living ranked among the lowest of major cities in the US with a median income of $41,000.
In the midst of this very upbeat and positive report, San Antonio is full of ministry opportunities.
- The homeless population is projected at 25,000. One in five adults live in poverty.
- Bexar County teen pregnancy rate of girls between 15-17 is nearly twice the US average.
- San Antonio has the second highest illiteracy create among major Texas cities. Over 4000 elementary age children are at risk to be illiterate.
- Crime, teenage pregnancy and drug usage levels are elevated in the inner city.
